About your recommendation RE: nearest Orthodox Church, do orthodox denominations (Greek, Russian, et al.) differ in aescetic practices, or are the distinctions mostly organisational?
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your message. All the jurisdictions of the Orthodox Church follow the same basic practices, both ascetic and liturgical. So if you're interested in learning more, feel free to enquire at a parish of any jurisdiction.
